Best Places to Work

June 15, 2007 - Briggs & Veselka Co. was named one of the “Best Places to Work” in the 2007 Houston Business Journal program. The annual program, now in its seventh year, drew more than 180 nominations from companies that were impartially evaluated, scored and ranked.

B&V was one of 52 Houston-area-based companies selected in four categories, placing 12th in the “Companies 101-500” employees group. To become a Best Place to Work, companies had to complete an employee engagement survey. The survey was based on a six-point scale, and each company is ranked on the average of the aggregate scores.

Companies were recognized in three categories, based on the number of employees, for companies headquartered in Houston: 10-100 employees, 101-500 employees and 501+ employees.

“The employees at Briggs & Veselka Co. are what make the company extraordinary, “said Johnny Veselka, CPA, President and Managing Partner of Briggs & Veselka. “On behalf of management, I want to say that we believe we have the finest group of employees any company could hope for, and we strive to do everything possible to maintain a pleasing work environment for everyone.”

Eight years ago I was moving from Ohio and essentially going to transfer with Arthur Andersen.  The day I was going to accept the position with Arthur Andersen, I had the opportunity to interview with Briggs & Veselka Co., which at that time was 40 people.  Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to watch and be a part of the firm growing into Houston's largest local firm by making sure revenue and infrastructure development are in step.  How has the firm accomplished so much?  Perhaps the simplest answer is, people here care - care for clients and care for each other.
