The IRS has provided an extension of time to January 31, 2018 for tax return filings and tax payments due beginning August 23, 2017. This includes income tax returns and estimated tax payments originally due or currently on extension and due during this time period.
Federal payroll and excise tax deposits normally due on or after August 23, 2017 and before September 7, 2017 will not be subject to late deposit penalties if made by September 7, 2017. These extended due dates apply automatically to taxpayers whose address is in the disaster area.
For taxpayers whose address is outside the disaster area but whose records are in the disaster area, the extension is available by calling IRS at 866-562-5227.
