Sid Shaver Brings More than 25 years Middle Market Experience

November 1, 2016 (Houston, Texas)

BVCA, a subsidiary of Houston’s largest independent accounting firm Briggs & Veselka, has hired industry veteran Sid Shaver as a Senior Managing Director in charge of the practice. A 25-year veteran of investment banking, Sid holds CPA, Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA), and FINRA Series 7,24,66,79 designations. Joining the firm brings Mr. Shaver full circle, as he spent an early part of his career in the firm’s audit practice.

“We are so pleased to have Sid join the firm to continue to grow our Capital Advisors practice,” said Briggs & Veselka Managing Partner John Flatowicz. “He has a sterling reputation not only in Houston, but nationally and even globally,” he added. Among his industry accomplishments, Shaver was a founding member of the Alliance for Merger & Acquisition Advisors and co-created its certification program.
“My goal is to bring a higher level of service for closely-held businesses. Closely held means its ‘real money’—often the result of decades of work on the part of the owners. Their business is not only their legacy, but in many cases their future financial security,” said Shaver. “I hope to bring not just my investment banking experience, but a true appreciation of the sensitivities which can accompany transactions of closely-held businesses,” he added.

Shaver’s practice will focus on buy and sell-side transactions for a number of industries including energy services, petrochemical, technology, transportation, logistics, consumer goods, environmental, food and beverage industries. He is a member of the board of advisors for the Accounting Department of the Bauer College of Business at U of H, AICPA, TSCPA, ACG, AMAA, Touchdown Club of Houston, National Football Foundation, and a board member of the University of Houston Investment Bankers Scholars Club.
